This chapter is here to underline the emphasis and importance we place on our connections with the academic life. From our point of view our country is placed at this time in a rather awkward position because it has only fewer fields were there is an established system connecting business with education, involving both the professionals and the academics in a structured relationship. Psychology is barely one of them. This abnormality needs remediation as soon as possible because both of the worlds actually depend on one another. Scarce attempts have been made so far to join parts of the two worlds together and we are among the people that are striving to make the “joint venture” permanent and functional.
And since our backgrounds connect us to Psychology, Sociology and Communication Sciences our efforts are entirely focused on those.
Actually at this time we are involved in a symbiotic connection with the academic environment a relation that has generated so far significant benefits for both of the parties involved:
1. First of all we are continuously improving our tools and methodologies by keeping in touch with the latest paradigms and research conducted in the academic environment
2. Second we support the educational system by providing two key elements:
a) We share some of our experience to the students end encourage a more pragmatic approach of the elements taught in schools
b) We provide practice opportunities for some of the students that show a real interest in our fields of work
3. Third we are logistically involved in supporting some joint venture research projects in the fields applied psychology that will fill significant knowledge gaps thus being helpful to both students and professionals
4. Fourth we try to involve professionally students in some of our projects helping them get an accurate perspective of how the things are done on “the other side of the mirror”, in the real business world
All of the above have become tangible in the following:
- Some of our professionals are teaching at several prestigious Romanian universities – listed at the Friends and Foes / Allies chapter
- Some of our professionals have published works – books, articles - in the fields of Psychology and Sociology; actually the publishing effort is a continuous process involving evermore members of our organization
- We are actively involved – through personal or company memberships - in some local and international academic institutes, also listed at the Friends and Foes / Memberships chapter.
